A lot of good stuff has happened in the last few years.  We are now officially empty nesters and happy to report both our sons are off our payroll and successful in their own careers! We are truly blessed!  It hasn’t always been an easy road but it has been quite a journey for the last forty years together!  I am eternally grateful to God every single day for the miracles we’ve seen in our life together and in our two son’s lives as they were growing up!

Our younger son James graduated from UT Permian Basin in 2016 and is working in the oil industry out in West Texas.  He just turned 25!  He’s earning a very nice income right out of college with full benefits so that makes this mama bear happy!

Our older son Luke (who turns 31 this year) has served six years in the military and this past year he deployed for the first time. There’s a lot more to our older son’s miraculous story so stay tuned!  We flew out to visit him and took him to the airport on Thanksgiving. That was a bittersweet moment for me.  Clif and I go out there to visit him every year and this last year we took a trip in September with our younger son tagging along this time.   We have not had a family vacation together like this in over fourteen years (the last one was not so memorable because of our older son’s stubbornness, more on that later) so this one was very memorable and so much fun for us all except that one time in DC when Luke had a small meltdown over his car alarm going off in the underground parking area (this happened a lot with Luke’s vehicle) and James wanting right then and there to just go home! He ran back to the parking garage to get his vehicle and parked it on the street by the Washington monument and met up with us on the mall near the Lincoln Memorial.

We got through that bit of drama, as James would say, but to Luke was something that really stressed him out every time he parked his vehicle somewhere especially in an underground parking garage!   We all went on to enjoy the day visiting Arlington Cemetery, the tomb of the unknown, seeing the changing of the guards and seeing some other memorials in DC, picking and eating crabs in Maryland which is what James wanted to do, going to a Sunday service at our church in Charles Town West Va where they got to see James for the first time since we left there in 1996 when he was age three.  Really truth be known, we think Luke enjoyed picking crabs too just like the old days when he was little and his dad and grandpa used to show him how to pick them in Virginia!  (We’ve since gotten Luke’s alarm fixed when we brought his vehicle back here to Texas thanks to a good friend at our church!  And many thanks to God for all His blessings!)  This year 2018 we’re taking another trip back to the east coast to visit Luke and James is going along again!

Of course, I must mention our canine boy Titan the Awesome Aussie dog who turned 7 in 2018!  He’s such a joy in our life!  Titan loves his life at A To Z Dog Ranch where he goes twice a week to run and play with all his canine and human friends!  He also stays overnight camping when we go out of town. He’s been going to A To Z since he was about 8 months old so it’s sort of his home away from home. He loves running on the four-acre ranch and playing in the creek when there’s water!   Everyone knows he’s quite protective of his mommy!  Here’s his Facebook page if you’d like to keep up with Titans awesome canine life!

I’ve enjoyed being retired the last almost ten years.Traveling, spending time with family,  cooking, gardening, serving at our church One Chapel here in Spicewood, earning some extra income critter sitting, plus keeping up with folks on Facebook, enjoying time with our Aussie dog Titan.  My husband is still working with a local land survey company and he’s really not interested in retiring anytime soon or he would be bored to pieces. He also enjoys his Camp Gladiator workouts! So proud of what he’s accomplished there!

We took a year and a half discipleship class with our church called Catalyst and graduated in the spring of 2017 at which time we renewed our marriage vows and exchanged Song of Solomon rings from James Avery.  We’ve been together since 1978, married since 1981. We were water baptized at the end of our Catalyst weekend on April 29, 2017.

Then we finished up the Financial Peace University class at our church which gave us a lot of insight about saving our emergency fund, paying debt, investing.  Happy to admit we got through the entire class and graduated in November 2017!

During our Catalyst experience, we learned to discover our mission and purpose and mine seemed to keep coming back to helping people with their health, both physically and spiritually.   My purpose and mission has always been to help others.
